Confortel
The Confortel hotel chain has 18 establishments in select locations in the main cities and in upscale coastal destinations, the goal being to meet its clients’ expectations in terms of leisure and relaxation. The chain currently operates in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Malaga, Cadiz, Huelva, Gerona, Badajoz, Menorca and Zaragoza.
Despite the general financial crisis, and specifically that of Spain’s tourism industry, Confortel Hoteles reported earnings of 54.2 M €, an improvement of 1.4 M € over the previous year’s result.
Various initiatives were launched intended to minimize the adverse effects of the downturn on our business and to enhance revenue.
The merger of Confortel SL. and Confortel Gestión was completed, the goal being to improve Confortel Gestión’s financial and equity position, as well as to reduce the administrative burden associated with running two companies instead of one.
The relaunch of Confortel Badajoz meant the hiring of a new restoration company and turned the establishment into the premier venue in Badajoz for hosting events.
Following its remodeling, the Confortel Romareda is now one of the company’s signature hotels, becoming part of a strategy to differentiate the Confortel brand from the competition.
The transformation and consolidation of the sales team is also allowing Confortel to move forward with a new social network project intended to establish an online presence and receive immediate feedback from clients. This is helping the chain to respond quickly and to propose nimble solutions, as well as to enhance the image projected by Confortel.
Work is also continuing on the microsite project. The new webpages are aimed at boosting business and have been conceived as an extension of the establishments. The websites are personalized with each hotel’s own features, and are designed to accompany net surfers as they browse through the rooms, halls and other hotel facilities, the goal being to ease the booking process while providing all of the information clients need. Confortel Hoteles is thus demonstrating its continuing commitment to digital media as an outlet for the company’s future.
At the same time, Confortel is upgrading its internal communications system with technical improvements like the videoconferencing systems installed in strategic points such as Barcelona, Madrid and Seville.
In terms of finances, the delinquency rate was reduced and the average payment period dropped from 51.48 days in 2009 to 43.08 days in 2010.
In the area of accessibility, it should be noted that five new certifications were obtained. The company thus boasts a total of 13 hotels with this distinction and retains its leading position in the tourism industry in terms of accessibility.
In 2010, Confortel Hoteles was awarded the prize for the best stand at FITUR (International Tourism Trade Fair) for the third year in a row.
Confortel had a staff of 436 as of December 31, 2010. Of these, 37 were persons with disabilities.
