Rubia
The leading company in the Sector, Rubia Corporación Alimentaria, offers its specialities in Iberian and white pig products, prepared in its factories in Azuaga (Badajoz), Seva (Barcelona) and Jamcal (Teruel), through the brand names Rubia, Monterrubio and Ibérico Sierra de Azuaga. The company has opted for the differentiation of its products, with the backing of the Teruel and Extremadura designations of origin, whereby all of its products compete in both the national and international markets.
Traditionally, Rubia has stayed well away from the concept of mass production, focussing on offering more select products, for which it makes the most of the specialisation of its production plants located in areas with a great tradition for small-scale methods. Likewise, it makes special efforts to equip its facilities with state-of-the-art machinery and technology that guarantee the quality of the processes. In addition, it is continually investing in tools that ensure the traceability of its products throughout the whole supply chain.
In reference to the business aspects, in 2006, CEOSA extended its shareholding in Rubia Corporación Alimentación. This expansion was carried out by extending the company’s capital, which also provided the company with greater financial solidity and through the acquisition of shares from the other partner. This has led to an increase in CEOSA’s shareholding from 49% to 69.4%. The remaining 30.6% of the capital will remain in the hands of José Rubia, creator of the brand of products.
As regards the Company's activity, it has continued its policy throughout 2006 for introduction in the new products market, which will progressively increase its turnover. Among these, we can highlight the Iberian pig products made from fresh raw materials, such as Butifarra (Catalan Sausage), Sausages and Chorizo, and fine cuts of Loin, Sirloin, Secreto (behind the shoulder), Pluma (in front of the loin) and Presa (back of the head). Likewise, it has also launched the new range of products “Bocatas Calientes” (Hot Sandwiches).
As of 31st December 2006 the Food Group has total staff of 155, of which five have some kind of disability.
