1/12/2010

The Valencia Confortel Aqua hotel hosted the 17th Corporate Meetings of the ONCE

Business Corporation (CEOSA) from 10th to 13th November. Besides discussing the central theme of Marketing in the Corporation’s companies and groups, attendees once more took an in-depth look into the different aspects affecting CEOSA’s performance through the following presentations: “Important Financial-Economic Lines. 2010 and 2011”, by Chief Executive, Enrique Servando Sánchez; “2010-2013: Which direction”, presented by the Economic, Financial, and Investment Manager, Marta Fernández; and “People Management at CEOSA Companies”, by Raquel Gómez, Corporate Manager for Organisation and Human Resources, along with their team of experts. The meetings attracted around 150 active participants, including CEOSA’s managerial staff, individual company executives, and technical staff from the Corporate Centre.
Another important issue discussed at the meeting was the “The Implementation of the Synergies Programme”, presented at the Meetings last year and which has been developed in the Corporation throughout the year. Jon Cortina, Chief Executive of Confortel and Viajes 2000 gave this presentation. Finally, coinciding with the central theme of the meeting, there was also a Round Table with managers of various CEOSA companies under the slogan, “Focussing Organizations with a Marketing Perspective”.
Recovering Hope
José María Arroyo, President of the ONCE Business Corporation, opened the Meetings with an analysis of the current economic situation: “a difficult year –he said-, which was further aggravated by the lack of help from the financial institutions”. This situation is worsened in Spain “by the high level of unemployment –he added- which further complicates the social environment”. In his opinion, the Government should negotiate help measures for companies -“I am referring to tax measures rather than direct measures” he pointed out, and ensure that workers are not taken advantage of. He concluded by stating: “we shouldn’t wait for the environment to change in order to recover hope. We must begin now”.

The Chief Executive, Enrique Servando Sánchez, indicated that at a consolidated level, expected turnover for 2010 shows a positive evolution, with an increase of 3 percent on the previous year, amounting to 485 million euros. Therefore, the pre-tax result is likely to show a loss of around 9 million euros, somewhat less than the 12 million euros recorded in 2009. Therefore, Sánchez González recommended “maximum caution, but also courage in the vision”, for 2011 which, like this year, appears to be full of uncertainties.
The Meetings were also attended by Alejandro Oñoro, General Manager of Fundosa (the ONCE Foundation’s Group of companies), and ONCE’s General Manager, Ángel Sánchez, who closed the event.
