El Prat Royal Golf Club, New Contract for ALENTIS
Located between Barcelona Airport and the sea, the Former El Prat Royal Golf Club, a nine-hole course which was opened in 1956, has recently been awarded to the Atlentis Group’s Environment Department.
El Prat Golf Club was designed by Javier Arana, who modelled the fairways on a natural environment among the dense Mediterranean pine forest. A location such as this, with an area of around 200,000 m2 (of which, 126,000 m2 is grassy and 42,000 m2 is pine forest), requires extensive and varied gardening maintenance activities by Atlentis Environment professionals.
There is a wide range of types of grass that requires different mowing levels for tees, greens and fairways, in the course’s nine holes.
The maintenance of a golf course of these characteristics is an everyday challenge, which must be combined with the habits of the habitual golf players, as well as those who come to play tournaments.
El Prat Golf Club has held all types of championships in recent years (Spanish Open on 8 occasions and many European Pro Golf Tours and international championships), which means that the work of highly qualified professionals, such as the Atlentis Group’s gardeners, is absolutely vital.
The phytosanitary treatments, fertilization, aeration, clearing, pruning or irrigation control system are also necessary activities that will be carried out by the Atlentis Group’s Environment Department in order to offer players the best conditions on the circuit.
The Atlentis Group’s Environment Department is certified with ISO 14001, which awards it with excellence in environment protection. For this reason, responsible environmental protection carried out by the Atlentis Group’s Environment Department is perfectly in line with the values promoted by the Club’s management.
