VIAJES 2000, AcceSIble To All.

20/6/2009

Interesting travel suggestions on the Viajes Accesibles website.

Viajes 2000’s accessible website for travel reservations has added two new special deals for disabled travellers. First of all, a weekend getaway to Santa Pola, Alicante, on June 13-14, including adaptive paragliding activities for the mentally, sensory, visually, or physically impaired. Up to eighty travellers were able to go paragliding with professional pilots. Secondly, “Customised Norway,” an eight-day trip to Norway enabling travellers to visit a great many sites without being in such a haste. (For more information, go to www.viajes2000accesibles.es).
In addition, the travel agency of ONCE Corporation is working on specials for the visually-impaired who want to visit specific travel destinations on their own. According to Viajes 2000 Institutional Coordination Manager Jorge Antonio Piñeiro, “These will be seven-day trips to two or three attractive travel destinations for closed groups of ten to twelve travellers plus their escorts. We’ll even fill our clients in on the destination they’ve chosen for their holidays.” The idea, Mr Piñeiro explains, is to offer tailor-made holiday packages “meeting the needs of those travellers who can’t see.”

And… To the Theatre

Viajes AcceSIbles has signed a cooperation agreement with the production company Stage Entertainment to add accessible entertainment products in Madrid and Barcelona. As a result, customers will now be able to get tickets for this company’s shows at the Coliseum and Lope de Vega theatres in Madrid and Teatre Musical in Barcelona, entering www.viajes2000accesibles.es. In the process, website users can indicate reduced mobility issues, or whether they use wheelchairs, guide dogs, or any other special devices. On the website, they can read about venues’ accessibility. Currently, tickets can be bought for Fiebre de Sábado Noche (Saturday Night Fever) in Madrid or Disney’s classic La Bella y la Bestia (Beauty and the Beast) in Barcelona.

Scientific Conferences
Viajes 2000’s branch in Las Palmas has been named the official travel agency of the 26th Scientific Conference of the Spanish Paraplegia Society (SEP) and the 15th National Symposium of the Spanish Society of Spinal Injury Specialist Nursing (ASELME), to be held on Grand Canary from October 7 to October 9, 2009. Both conferences will take place at the Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort, Spa & Casino, next to the Maspalomas lighthouse, dunes, and beach, in the south of the island. They are expected to draw 250 doctors and nurses specialising in narrow injuries.
